Your cross-section. A connected production process.

Plastic Profile Extrusion Line

Develop a plastic profile extrusion line from your cross-section drawing, resin grade and fit requirements. ARKPM connects die design, calibration, cooling, pulling and cutting around the critical dimensions, surfaces and changeovers that define your product.

THE APPLICATION

Start with what
the line needs to do.

A profile line starts with the features that make the finished section useful: a mating edge, a supported hollow region, a visible face or a controlled cut length. ARKPM develops the extrusion equipment proposal around those priorities, considering material, tooling, calibration and downstream handling together. The brief should identify critical dimensions, inspection conditions and the profiles that will share the equipment. This is a machinery offer for producing profiles, not a finished-profile manufacturing service. Tooling development and sample evaluation form part of the agreed project scope, with acceptance tied to the actual drawing and resin grade.

Applications to discuss

  • Custom channels and edge profiles
  • Protective strips and support sections
  • Technical profiles with defined fit or appearance requirements
All configurations are reviewed against a defined material and product specification.
CONFIGURATION

The building blocks
of your line.

01

Material and die proposal

Identify the resin grade, additives and intended section geometry. Review tooling around flow balance and the critical features, with any unresolved design questions recorded before production equipment is finalized.

02

Calibration and support

Discuss how the section is supported while cooling. The appropriate calibration route depends on material and geometry, particularly for profiles with different wall sections, hollow regions or sensitive visible surfaces.

03

Pulling and cutting

The downstream equipment must grip and handle the profile without undermining its required shape or finish. Define cut length, end condition and collection method as part of the original specification.

Feed hopper and inlet on an extrusion platform
Material feed hopper and inlet.

Match feeding to the resin

A profile project starts with the selected resin and its preparation requirements. Discuss hopper loading, material changes and cleaning access before confirming the feed arrangement. The inlet and associated handling can be customized to fit the product mix, existing preparation equipment and operator workflow.

Extrusion barrel heating sections and service connections
Barrel heating and service connections.

Connect heating with tooling

Profile requirements reach back from the section drawing into the extrusion platform. Review barrel heating and temperature monitoring together with resin behavior and the proposed tooling. The heating arrangement and access provisions can be customized as part of the complete profile production brief.

PROCESS THINKING

A considered route
through the process.

01

Prioritize drawing features

Mark dimensions that control assembly, sealing, appearance or function. Distinguish these from reference dimensions so engineering effort and acceptance checks focus on what determines whether the profile can be used.

02

Review the process concept

Discuss tooling, cooling support and haul-off together before approving the line arrangement. Changes to the section or material should trigger review of downstream assumptions as well as the die.

03

Validate fit and repeatability

Agree trial samples, measurement conditions and any mating-part checks. Evaluate straightness, dimensional consistency and surface appearance against the drawing instead of relying on an attractive single sample.

PROJECT SPECIFICATION

The parameters we define together.

These are project inputs and configuration decisions. Performance is agreed against the material and product specification.

ParameterWhat to define
Cross-section and fitProvide a dimensioned drawing with critical tolerances and mating-part information. Identify which surfaces control assembly, function and appearance.
Resin and formulationState the exact extrusion grade and any additives or fillers. Material substitutions require review of the tooling and downstream assumptions.
Tooling and calibrationList the sections to be produced and their priority. Discuss die development and cooling support for each geometry, including hollow regions and differing wall sections.
Haul-off and surface contactSpecify visible faces, permitted contact marks and handling restrictions. Review how the section is supported and gripped while its dimensions stabilize.
Cut length and changeoversDefine cut lengths, end condition, collection format and expected tool-change frequency. Identify launch products separately from future tooling options.
Output and acceptanceState the production target, measurement conditions and trial-sample checks. Confirm the drawing revision, resin and site utilities used as the proposal baseline.
The supplied equipment, tooling and calibration are defined for the agreed cross-section and material grade. Additional profiles or formulations need a separate compatibility review before extending the production range.
CUSTOMIZATION

Made specific to your project.

Every ARKPM product family supports customization. These are the decisions that give the configuration its purpose.

Section-specific tooling

Tooling and supporting equipment can be discussed around your profile family. State which sections share material and operating requirements, and which should be treated as separate development projects.

Surface and handling needs

Identify visible surfaces, marking restrictions and packaging requirements. These priorities help define contact points, collection arrangements and inspection methods without assuming a standard puller or stacker fits every section.

Changeover and future products

Provide the expected production mix and frequency of tool changes. Review access, adjustment methods and storage of tooling so the proposed system supports the actual operating routine.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS LINE

Before you choose
a configuration.

Can one die make different profile shapes?

Distinct cross-sections normally require their own tooling. Some equipment may be shared where the operating range suits, but common machine ownership does not remove section-specific development needs.

Can you quote from a photograph?

A photograph can begin the discussion, but a reliable specification needs dimensions, material and functional requirements. A physical sample may help resolve details that are missing from the drawing.

Are tight tolerances guaranteed?

Tolerances must be reviewed for the specific section, grade and inspection method. Critical features require an agreed validation plan; a general claim of precision is not an acceptance specification.

Do you supply finished plastic profiles or extrusion equipment?

This product page offers custom extrusion equipment. Share the profiles you intend to manufacture so ARKPM can review the tooling, calibration and downstream requirements for your production project.

What affects the quotation for a profile extrusion line?

Cross-section complexity, material, the number of tooling sets, calibration, surface-contact requirements and cutting or collection arrangements determine the scope. A dimensioned drawing and identified critical features make a proposal more useful than an overall-width estimate alone.
